Focus in Grade Five: We Worship
The fifth graders will study Christian worship and the Sacraments.
Jesus' life was full of praise and worship of the Father. His every
thought, word, and act worshipped God. Indeed, Christ's last gift
to us was the Eucharist, the offering of himself in joyful praise
to the Father. What Jesus did, we must also do. In imitation of Him,
we should live lives of prayer, loving service, and sacrifice. Through
the Sacraments we strengthen grace, our relationship with God, We
are able to worship the Father by following Christ.
Focus in Grade Seven: Jesus the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
The title of this year's program is Jesus the Way, the Truth, and
the Life. Through their texts the students will reflect on the
person of Jesus and on their baptismal call to walk with him along
the WAY to the Father. They will listen to the TRUTH of his teaching,
and they will meditate on the gift of new LIFE that is theirs through
the sacraments because of his dying and rising. They will be challenged
to respond to Jesus by walking his WAY and encouraging others to
follow him, by living according to the TRUTH he taught, and by
sharing his LIFE and love with all whom they meet.
They will prayerfully ponder Jesus' words and deeds in order to
know better what God is like. They will also look at their own
life situation and prayerfully ask what they should say or do as
true followers of Jesus.

Focus of Grade Six: God Calls a
PeopleThe title of the
sixth-grade program is God Calls A People. This year, your child
will study God's revelation to the people he bound to himself in
covenant love. The program emphasizes our Father's call for a love
relationship with him and with the Church community through his
Son, Jesus. Intrinsic to this relationship is a caring love for
all people. The study of the Hebrew Scriptures, or Old Testament,
leads your child to see in Jesus the perfect fulfillment of all
the Father has promised as well as the perfect response to his
love.
As your child becomes familiar with salvation history, he or she
is encouraged to read the Bible and to use the Word of God for
prayer.
