Children's Liturgy of the Word.
Children's Liturgy of the Word is during the 9:00 AM and the 11:00 AM Mass.

Do I register? Is there a fee?
There is no registration for Children's Liturgy of the Word. There is no fee. The children simple come up front when Father calls them.

What is Children's Liturgy of the Word?
Its purpose is twofold: to form children in a quality liturgical experience and to facilitate the proclamation of Scripture into the child's life.

What it is not!
A replacement for religious training.

What are the targeted grade levels?
First Grade through Fifth Grade:
They need to be mature enough for formal worship and be able to comprehend a deeper level of understanding of God's Word. The younger children have the Nursery Program or Sunday School. This is Liturgy; this is not babysitting.

The children will gather with their parents for the opening rite of the Eucharist and remain until after the opening prayer. Then the pastor will give the invitation for the children to come forward. They will process to their separate place of worship. They come back to sit with their families at offertory.

What is Liturgy of the Word with Children?
Liturgy of the Word with children is first and foremost a worship experience. Although liturgy itself always exerts its own proper didactic force (par. 12), Liturgy of the Word with children is not a new or different type of religious education. Nor is it a new Rite. It is a concerned and sensitive way to enable children to participate in the formal worship experience of the community. The celebrations of these liturgies are intended to form children in the liturgical language of the church, to nourish and guide their spiritual growth, and to immerse them in the Word in ways that are understandable to them.

The Directory for Masses with Children which encourages a separate Liturgy of the Word:
..it is necessary to take great care that the children do not feel neglected because of their inability to participate or to understand what happens and what is proclaimed in the celebration…Sometimes, moreover, it will perhaps be appropriate, if the physical arrangements and the circumstances of the community permit, to celebrate the liturgy of the word, including the homily with the children in a separate area that is not too far removed.
