The Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation is a two-year preparation process and typically takes place in Grades 7 and 8. Your child is required to attend weekly classes and to complete assigments as given.
PARENTS:
Parents, you play a primary role in the sacramental preparation program. We can only touch the tip of the iceberg in an hour and a half a week, so your involvement at home is imperative. Your interest, involvement, and concern make a difference in your child's perception of what this sacrament and the Christian life are all about.
SERVICE HOURS
Twenty hours of volunteer service within the parish and community. Family obligations do not count towards their service hours. Service hours obtained over the summer may be used toward the twenty hours.
SAFETY
These guidelines are to ensure the safety of the students during class.
1. Students are not allowed to leave school/church premises during class without written parental permission.
2. Medical / permission forms need to be filled out prior to the first class.
3. No skateboards or ipod's at class.
EMERGENCY CLOSINGS
In the event of severe weather conditions that make travel unsafe, or other local emergency, the DRE is responsible for making decisions related to emergency closings and/or class cancellations. Announcements of closings will be given by the DRE to the major television and radio broadcast networks.
REGISTRATION & FEES
Registration for Religious Education classes takes place in the spring and late summer. The fee for registration covers some of the costs of books and supplies. Although these fees are normally required, money will not hinder your child from receiving Confirmation. If the cost is an issue, please call our Pastor or the Director of Religious Education.
