Welcome to Assumption School

We welcome the opportunity to serve with you as co-educators, as we dedicate ourselves to providing exciting, meaningful, and faith-filled school years for your child(ren).

                            Call school office or Sister Rosemary Smith, RSM for information
                            and/or a tour of the school. 
                            Available during school day, evenings, or weekends. 

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (ABVM) School offers students a
Christ centered quality education in grades K-8.

The school is accredited by the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools Accreditation Association.

  • Every teacher is qualified and certified by the Education Department of the State of Michigan.
  • All teachers are certified Catechists through the Grand Rapids Diocesan Office of Catholic Formation.

    Academic excellence at Assumption is verified through the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS).

    Outstanding teachers and support staff are dedicated to a quality education in a caring, clean, and safe environment.

  • Assumption has an outstanding Technology program in grades K-8 with a newly renovated computer center.
  • There are opportunities for Science Olympiad and Math Counts at Grand Valley State University
  • Spanish is taught in grades 1-5.
  • The band program for students grades 5-8 is on-site and directed by the West Catholic Band Director.
  • Gym, art, and music are provided as shared time programs.
  • An extensive sports program is open to all students in grades 5 – 8.
  • Students participate in Community Outreach and Christian Service projects throughout the school year.
  • Parental involvement is encouraged and appreciated by staff and students.

    Numerous volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year.

  • Assumption has an actively involved Parish Board of Education, Home & School Association, and Athletic Boosters Club (AABC).

    $500.00 Bounty
    (New Parish Board of Education Policy #324.
     
    A family with children currently attending Assumption School in Grades K-8 who recruits another
    family to attend Assumption School (Grades K-8) will receive a tuition credit in the amount of $500.00.

    Criteria:

            1.  An adult member of the recruiting school family must accompany the prospective family to
                 meet the Assumption School principal or her designee regarding the possible enrollment
                 of the new family's child(ren)

            2. The prospective family has made no previous contact with Assumption School regarding
                the enrollment of their child(ren).

            3.  Enrollment of a child in a specific grade must not exceed the policy class size limit.

            4.  The new family must attend Assumption School for the entire academic year.

            5.  The credit will be applied to the tuition of the recruiting family by May 10 of the school year.

    A tuition credit for recruiting a family which enrolls during the school year and remains through June
    will be prorated and credited to the recruiting family by May 10 of the school year.
