Dear Parents of Assumption BVM Students,
By sending your child/children to Assumption School, you are choosing
a Christ-centered education that is second to none in the area. With
the
opening of our new Family Life Center, we now have the opportunity to
provide the best athletic experience in the area as well. We offer every
sport
available by any other Catholic school.
With this new facility it became very apparent that the Athletic Director
and Home and School alone would be hard pressed to do all the things
it
would take to run a top notch athletic program at Assumption. Thus, the
Assumption Athletic Boosters Club, (AABC) was established in 2003.
The
Mission Statement of the AABC is:
"THE ASSUMPTION ATHLETIC BOOSTERS CLUB IS A
VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION TO SUPPORT QUALITY ATHLETICS
THROUGH FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES TO HELP THE SCHOOL
CHILDREN GROW SPIRITUALLY, MENTALLY, AND PHYSICALLY
THROUGH TEAM WORK, LEADERSHIP AND FAIR PLAY.”
At Assumption we have opted to offer our athletic programs without
any “Pay for Play” costs to the families. STEWARDSHIP/VOLUNTEERS
are
what will keep it this way. We NEED your help. We are growing and your
involvement will make a difference. These areas are in need of your
assistance:
*concession management
*field manager
*equipment manager
*communications coordinator
In order to provide funds for our programs, the AABC conducts a
major fund raiser each year. In addition, we do have 3-4 Paper Drives
throughout the year, and we provide a Santa Breakfast for free in early
December for all parishioners.
Our Fund Raiser is the annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.
It is
held in the Church parking lot. It has been a lot of fun and a great
event these
first 3 years. Sponsorships are a MAJOR part of this program. If you
are
interested, or know someone who might be, about more information to
sponsor, please give us a call. Volunteers are needed and make this event
a
success. Plus you WILL have fun!
Here are a few of the things the AABC has paid for so far:
*New Basketball Uniforms
*New Soccer Jerseys
*Ice Machine for Family Center
*Missals for Church
*Coaches Shirts
*Basketballs, Volleyballs, and other equipment.
*League and Tournament Fees
*Baseball Uniforms
*Baseball/Softball Pitching Machine
*Refinishing the Family Life Center floor
As noted in the Mission Statement, the AABC is a volunteer
organization. WE NEED YOU!!! The more folks we have to help with our
events, the easier it is for all of us. Plus did we mention it’s
FUN.
The AABC meets on the 2nd Monday of each month in the Church
Activity Center. Meetings start at 7:30PM and run about an hour and a
half.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Mark your calendar now to come
to the next meeting and check us out. We welcome the support. And you
do
not have to have a child participating in sports. So all K thru 4th grade
parents
are welcome too.
For Volunteer or Sponsorship information or any question you might
have, please contact Ted Kuzma, President,
874-7279 . We welcome your
input and support.
THANK YOU, AABC
