What are the sacraments?

Why do we do what we do at Mass?

What’s the point of baptizing a baby?

Why do I need a priest for confession? Can’t I go directly to God?

While Catholics know the sacraments are important, many never fully grasp how life-changing these “masterworks of God” really are. The Bible and the Sacraments is unlike any other study on the sacraments. Certainly it looks at the basic teaching of the Church as to their meaning and origin. But it goes further. It investigates the deeper mystery of the sacraments as illuminated by Sacred Scripture. Examining the rich relationship between the Old and New Testaments, it reveals the sacraments as more than mere earthly rituals. They are incredible “‘powers that come forth’ from the Body of Christ” (CCC 1116).

The Bible and the Sacraments is part of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology’s dynamic Journey Through Scripture Bible study series. It is based upon Dr. Scott Hahn’s bestselling book, Swear to God, explained by Matthew Leonard, author and presenter.

We will be meeting Thursdays from 1:00-2:30, starting on October 14th. To register call Cheryl Sokolowski at 361-5126 x257 or email [email protected]. Would you like a virtual option? Please call!
